GREEN LINE EXTENSION TO TORRANCE

For the initial Harbor Subdivision Alternatives Study (2008-2009) Cityworks Design provided urban design leadership on the evaluation of transit alternatives along a 30-mile abandoned rail right-of-way owned by Metro between Downtown LA and the Long Beach/San Pedro waterfront. Lisa and her team was responsible for developing the overall urban design framework and system elements, identifying transit-oriented development opportunities, preparing station concepts and station area plans. During the subsequent South Bay Green Line Extension Alternative Analysis (2010-2012) Cityworks Design provided 30% level station design and site layouts on a five mile extension from the existing Green Line Redondo Beach Station. Following approval of Measure M, a Supplemental Alternatives Analysis was initiated (2017) and the project re-started.  Cityworks Design developed additional alignment concepts, station designs and access ideas in the cities of Lawndale, Redondo Beach and Torrance. The firm helped facilitate public meetings to gain input on design alternatives, and led stakeholder tours of other Metro Lines.
